We had a little situation in the kitchen that caused a chip in the wall of the newly painted kitchen. Whoopsies! So, how to fix it? Why, spackle and touch-up paint, of course.

I like this spackle, purchased at my local home improvement store: DAP DryDex Spackling. It's so easy to use. It has a nice, thick consistency (just make sure to mix well) and dries. It goes on pink and is white once dry. Sometimes a second application is necessary. Sand lightly with sandpaper or a sanding block, wipe down, and you're ready to paint.

These Shur-Line plastic putty knives are also made in the USA.

Isn't it interesting how different paint can look depending on the lighting and time of day?

  1. This is the only brand Joel will buy. We've used it to patch walls at pretty much every place we've lived at in the last 5 years and it's a really good quality product. It fills the holes left behind by our baby gates so well you wouldn't even know they had been there in the first place!

    1. You'll notice I didn't even mention all the things that have been patched in the bedroom. Those are some bigger oops.
