IKEA, Made in the USA?

Is anything at IKEA made in the USA?

Imagine my surprise when I saw that these IKEA down pillows are (from imported materials)!

I have been through quite a few pillows in the past few years. Some were great at first and then after a week or so were hard and uncomfortable. These are great year-round, soft but supportive, don't get hot, and are washable. Thank goodness, no assembly is required.

It makes me wonder if IKEA has any other items that are American-made. Does anyone out there know?

  1. There are a number of US-made items at Ikea. The Tullsta armchair is made in the US, however the optional covers are not. Some of the plastic storage bins are US-made as well.

  2. I was surprised to see "Made in the U.S.A" on the shelf pack I bought for my IKEA kitchen. "RATIONELL Shelf, birch effect" Article Number: 800.493.71 That was the first I've noticed the USA CoO on the Kitchen Cabinet parts, but I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for Made in the U.S.A. items!

  3. A lot of their plastics are made in USA (for example the Stodja). The Expedit used to be, but it is now discontinued. I'm not sure if its replacement the Kallax is or not. The Manstead sleeper sofa is made in the USA, and so is its newer counterpart the Friheten. A few, but not all of the mattresses are made in America, also. I'll bet if you looked, you could find tons more!
