Weekend Laid Back

 

This past weekend was very relaxing. I spent most of it catching up on some much needed sleep and laying low. The weather is finally hinting at fall, I got some errands done, and I had a chance to wear some Made-in-the-USA things (old and new).

Emerson Fry, Fall 2013

 

Emerson Fry has successfully created a clothing line filled with stylish classics and covetable pieces. Season after season, she manages to offer chic items that are simple and familiar and, yet, always have women (and fashion editors) drooling. The key: making elegant, modern, but wearable items that can seamlessly fit into a woman's existing wardrobe. This fall, her line is filled with raglan sleeves, both skinny and slouchy fits, easy colors, tailored pieces, and luxurious materials. As usual, Emerson nails it with the styling. The Portland Collection, Fall 2013 (Women)

If you've been paying attention to my blog for more than a day, you'll know that I've been crazy about Pendleton's Portland Collection since their inaugural fall line in 2011. I'd like to spend a couple of posts highlighting some of my favorites from their impressive 2013 collection. Still rich with nods to the historical Pendleton prints, the designs are clean and deliberate.

Here are a few more women's looks that I love:

Amour Vert, Fall 2013

Amour Vert Fall 2013 is yet another made in the USA clothing line that I am so excited about. The various elements are perfect for a fall collection: stripes, prints, neutrals, colors, knits, and denim. Amour Vert's clothing are hip (this look above is plucked right from European street fashion blogs, isn't it?) and have a heart. They value both style and sustainability, making sure to use environmentally responsible methods to manufacture their product. The company uses a zero-waste design philosophy, organic and sustainable fabrics, and low-impact dyes. The end product: glamour with a conscience.

I really had a hard time picking just a few looks to feature in this post. Here are ten that have me drooling:

In Honor of NYFW, The Garment Center

Right now, hoards of fashion fanatics of all kinds are in NYC to celebrate the coming of the industry's Fall/Winter 2013 Collections for New York Fashion Week. Here is a wonderful Op-Ed piece written last year by Nanette Lepore, NYC-based fashion designer, about why the Garment Center is so vital to NYC's fashion industry. She goes on to highlight the importance of American clothing manufacturing for the local and U.S. economy.

Save the Garment Center is a trade organization dedicated to preserving the NYC fashion industry and keep manufacturing in New York City's garment district. Supporters include Lepore, Anna Sui, and Yeohlee Teng. Their website is extremely informative and has an extensive amount of information about clothing made in NYC.
