An Interview with Josh Miller

In yesterday's post, "Made in the USA: The 30 Day Journey" Review, I reviewed Josh Miller's new documentary. Josh, gracious as ever, answered these questions I had for him after watching the movie:

Are there any things that surprised you on or after your journey?

During the journey I was surprised how much of our lives literally are ruled by electronics day in and day out.  Also, it baffles me that we don't make any cell phone or laptops here in America.  Since electronics seem to be the future, you would think America would put in place policies that would encourage manufacturing in the electronics arena.  After the journey I was shocked to see how big our fan base has grown and continues to grow.  I knew then I must continue pushing forward and continue to raise awareness.  Many Americans out there are out of work, and we must fight to bring jobs back to our shores.  I definitely love all of the fans we have, we couldn't do it without them.

A few weeks ago, Josh Miller gave me a copy of his new documentary "Made in the USA: The 30 Day Journey" to watch and review. Josh has been a vocal advocate in the Made in America Movement and a great supporter of my blog. I was, of course, intrigued to watch about his journey and see how it all panned out. Beyond that, though, I wasn't sure what to expect. I must say that I underestimated what I was about to watch.

Mustaches

There's something fun about mustaches and, lately, they've been showing up on more than men's faces. Cell phone covers, pint glasses, jewelry, t-shirts, coffee mugs, and even this bottle opener. Created in Upstate NY in 2011, metalwork artist Adam Bierton was inspired to make the bottle openers after being asked to craft a mustache beer tap for a local pub's Movember charity event. The aptly named Mustache Bottle Opener is made of 3/16" stainless steel and, currently, laser etched and hand polished in Pennsylvania. Available in key chain and necklace versions as well. I may or may not have ordered more than one.

Oxfords and Sundaes

This past weekend, my husband and I went out to dinner to one of my favorite local restaurants. Afterwards, we decided to gild the lily with a decadent ice cream sundae at the neighborhood ice cream parlor. This ice cream joint is old school: marble counters, spinning wooden stools with foot rests, a double-door icebox that harks from another era, tin ceilings, honeycomb mosaic tile floor, the original mechanical cash register, and classic ice cream treats. I love those kinds of places, don't you?

My 100th Post: Top Posts for April

I can't believe it but this is my 100th post! Um, how did that happen? When I set out to start this blog, I thought that only a few of my friends would read it (maybe). I knew I was no competition for the big-time bloggers (not even close). I was prepared to get ignored by companies and others whom I emailed for photo requests (yep, I still do most of the time). I started blogging to help myself on my little quest to search and find great products that are made right here in the USA, but I didn't realize all the wonderful things I would follow.
